The wildlife in these waters

During a walk along this picturesque part of a beautiful city you are likely to spot an array of wonderful wildlife. This could include kingfishers, water voles and Grey wagtails. The fish to be found include brown trout, the odd rainbow trout, a good stock of grayling, a few sea trout and salmon have started to make a come back, I have only caught salmon Parr,but others have been luckier than me. We have a very good hatch of flies through out the year. If you take a very short walk down stream from the bridge in the picture you will find the City Mill, which has a web-cam set up to observe the otters that have been living in the river for a number of years. I have been extremely lucky to have seen one on two separate occasions once in the afternoon about 4 o'clock. A short walk up stream you will find the Ship Inn pub and behind that is Winchesters Nature Reserve.

I have lived in Winchester all my life and have been fishing this water for about 30 years, so I know the water quite well.
I have completed my level 2 certificate to coach game Angling, I also have a good practice and child protection certificate, and a First aid certificate, plus a criminal records bureau declaration, and public liability cover. All paper work will be shown on the day.
I am a Member of the Salmon & Trout Association, and the Angling Trust.

I am able to coach all abilities in the art of fly casting, such as the overhead cast, the side cast, the single haul cast, the double haul cast, and the roll cast, this cast is especially good on rivers.
